Designing
When build season begins, the team has metal, it has wires, and it has electronics, but what it does not have, is a machine. In order to build a functional robot, one needs to have a plan, a concept of the finished product. This is where design team comes in, using Autodesk Inventor, a 3-Dimensional parametric modeling program, design team's job is to provide build team with a goal. Using Inventor, design team can create an entire robot on the computer, allowing the team to see potential problems early, saving valuable time and money. This same computer model of the robot can be animated giving the team an idea of how the robot will function as a finished product. In order to aid rookies (and even veterans) with this software, we present a series of tutorials designed to get the gears turning. Check them out — you might just learn something..
